The Aftermath!

It is now a few days since the fateful "Y2K" day when it was predicted several years ago that millions of computers would get mightily confused about the year changing from 99 to 00. Prophets ranged free across the subject, predicting the collapse of the worlds monetary systems, lack of major utilities like power, even uncontrollable weather.

Not much went wrong, did it? :-)

We still had many millions of people braving the night to watch massive New Year's celebrations in many locations. I heard Time Square in New York had 2 million people, London had 2.5 out and about and even Sydney. Australia had 1.5 million all along the foreshores. Then again, you might have stayed home, or at least far away from such major celebrations. I myself enjoyed the night with a small number of friends in a flat on the outskirts of the city.

But what will your first work day in the new year be like? If you weren't on hand for the midnight rollover, you were probably not going to work until the Monday or Tuesday. Work as usual? Or was some wierdness infecting your office, courtesy of some not-quite-there-yet Y2K patch?

Tell me some stories, the juicier and longer the better! And you might even want to point some colleages and friends here to corroborate things :-)...
