Are we comfortable here?

This article originally appeared on IWETHEY during our sojourn on EZBoard.

We've been on EZboard for at least six months now. And what a journey it's been. We've come to grapple with really owning our forum space and all the warts that that entails. We've had policies come about, unwelcome visitors intrude and regulars leave. But we've also had lots of good conversation and we definitely know a lot more about each other now.

EZBoard has also raised the bar for what is good forum software. The old InfoWorld Electric forum software, while still serviceable, would probably not cut the mustard anymore. (And the less said about Inclusion the better.) We've been through a few bugs and features cycles. It's sad to see some bugs still not solved and some long-awaited features not yet implemented. We've also gotten used to and generally embraced some of EZboard's quirks.

But is it home? There are things some of us would still like that are really beyond the scope of what EZBoard was for. There was recently a subthread about possibly registering iwethey.org and setting up something there, such as a shared bookmark page.

Is this home enough? None of us are getting paid to participate or run it. All effort is volunteer. We may gripe about what EZboard can't do, but there is a limit an essentially free service can provide. Are we content enough with the status quo?
